Adjusted Equalized Net Grand List Per Capita (AENGLC)
AENGLC is a measure of city or town wealth that is updated annually by the Connecticut State Department of Education. The formula for wealth includes per capita income and property taxes. There are 169 towns in Connecticut, and 17 regional school districts that are given a weighted wealth rank. Excluding towns that do not have any schools of their own, but adding in the regional school districts along with the Gilbert School, Norwich Free Academy and Woodstock Academy, we arrive back at 169. For practical purposes, the 169 have been divided up by Collective Bargaining Services LLC into 13 groups of 12 and 1 group of 13, labeled A-1 through A-14, with A-1 being the wealthiest ranked school districts and A-14 being the 13 districts with the least wealth. Inherent in this grouping is the fact that it could change every year. Here is the grouping based on the 2021-22 AENGLC.
